“Homemade Raw Banana Chips”, my attempt to make the perfect crispy vazhakkai chips easily at home.

  • 2 medium-sized Raw Bananas/vazhakkai/வாழைக்காய்
  • 1 tsp Salt /உப்பு
  • Oil - For frying/எண்ணெய் - பொரிப்பதற்கு
  • ½ tsp Freshly ground black pepper - for seasoning
  • ½ Red Chilli powder - for seasoning மிளகுத் தூள்/மிளகாய் தூள் - தேவையான அளவு
  1. heat oil in a pan/Kadai(keep it in low-medium flame).
  2. Wash the raw banana, trim the edges. Peel off the skin using a peeler.
  3. start slicing the raw banana/vazhakkai over the hot oil directly or slice them and fry in batches.
  4. Fry them evenly by turning them both the sides, till they turn golden.
  5. once fried remove them from oil over a tissue paper to drain the oil completely.
  6. Salted raw banana chips,
  7. Sprinkle some salt and toss it up and enjoy a plain salted version of Raw Banana Chips.
  8. Spicy Raw Banana Chips,
  9. Sprinkle some Pepper/chili powder, salt and toss it up and enjoy a spicy version of Raw Banana Chips.
Always fry the Raw Banana/Vazhakkai Slices in low-medium flame.
Seasoning is completely up to your wish, you can sprinkle some chat masala to taste like[b]Haldirams Banana Chips[/b]
