Vazhaipoo murungai keerai kootu recipe with moong dal.

  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ cup onion chopped
  • 1 small banana flower(vazhaipoo)
  • 1 cup drumstick leaves(murungai keerai)
  • ½ cup moong dal
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  1. Heat a tsp of oil in a kadai or pressure cooker, add mustard seeds. Let it splutter.
  2. Add onion and saute well. Add the chopped vazhaipoo and murungai keerai and saute well.
  3. Add dal, salt and turmeric powder, mix well.
  4. Finely, add the water. cover and cook for 5-20 mins. If you are using pressure cooker just wait for 2 whistles and then switch off.
  5. Vaizhaipoo murungai keerai kootu ready.
clean and chop the banana flower and keep in butter milk so that the colour will not change before cooking. otherwise it will turn black colour.
ground the coconut and cumin + chili into fine paste and add it to the kootu for more tasty vazhipoo murungai keerai kootu.
