Semiya kesari - sweet south indian dessert made with semiya, ghee, dry fruits and nuts.

  • 1 cup vermicelli semiya(I used thin roasted variety)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 10 Cashews
  • 10 Raisins
  • 3 tsp Ghee
  • 1 cup Water
  • A Pinch cardamom powder
  • A small pinch Orange Food Color
  1. Add ghee in a pan and fry the cashews and raisins, once it turns golden brown take it out in a plate. Roast the ragi semiya in the same pan if you are not using the roasted semiya. Now in a non-stick pan,make the sugar syrup by boiling the sugar and water.once the sugar started thick add the food colour, cardamom powder and mix well.
  2. Now add the vermicelli, cover and cook till the semiya becomes soft. Add the ghee and cover the Kesari with lid for a while so that we will get nice Kesari consistency.Once done add the cashews and raisins mix well. serve hot Kesari.
1. Water level is very important so add little water and then make the sugar syrup.If you add more water then you will not get the kesari consistency.
