Kondakkadalai Kurma Recipe, How to make Channa ka Korma in Pressure Cooker.  Kondakkadalai kurma is Flavourful and extremely satisfying Channa korma made at home with coconut. This is not a regular channa masala. This you might have tasted in the south Indian hotels as a side dish for chapati. Cooking becomes a challenge with a super cold climate, wearing sweaters and socks all the time, hence a simple and comforting dinner made it in a jiffy with the help of pressure cooker😀  Rotis served with Channa ka Kurma Soulful food any day!

So what actually this Kondakkadalai Kurma Recipe? chickpeas are cooked with onions, coconut and lots of spices without any store-bought masala powder. The result is a thick, stew-like curry that’s extremely flavorful, easy to make, not overly spicy, and the perfect hearty plant-based meal.  all of the above this kurma recipe is easily customized with whatever nutritious vegetables and accompaniments you prefer. For example, you can make this same kurma with mixed vegetables and you can have it with idli, dosa also.

Channa Kurma for Chapathi

Channa ka Korma or Channa Kurma recipe can be made perfectly. First thing channa should soak at least for 8 to 9 hrs or overnight. I did pressure cook the channa initially for 4-5 whistles and then after blending with masala again, pressure cooks it for 2 more whistles so totally 6-7 whistles. Then only the channa will be soft. If you making in a normal pot or Kadai pressure cook 6-7 whistles for best result. Ingredients
  • 1 & ½ cups of white channa/வெள்ளை கொண்டக்கடலை
  • 2 medium-sized onion/வெங்காயம்
  • 1 sprig curry leaves/கறிவேப்பிலை
  • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste/இஞ்சி-பூண்டு விழுது
  • Salt/உப்பு – As needed
  • 1 tbsp oil/எண்ணெய்
  • 3 nos. of cardamom/ஏலக்காய்
  • 1 inch of cinnamon stick/இலவங்கப்பட்டை
  • 3 cloves/கிராம்பு
  • To Grind
  • ½ cup of grated coconut/தேங்காய்
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds/சோம்பு
  • 1 tbsp roasted channa/பொட்டுக்கடலை
  • 3-4 green chilies/பச்சை மிளகாய்
Instructions
  1. Soak the channa overnight or 8- 10 hrs.
  2. Pressure cook the channa(kondakkadalai) little salt. The more we cook the channa, it becomes really soft.
  3. In a mixie jar add coconut, roasted channa dal, green chilies, and fennel seeds. Add water and grind it to smooth paste.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves and fry for a minute.
  5. Add the chopped onions and fry until they turn translucent. Now add the curry leaves, ginger- garlic paste and saute for a minute
  6. Add the channa dal and salt. Add grounded coconut paste and water(I used the reserved water from the cooked channa), mix well.
  7. cover and pressure cook for 1 or 2 whistles, switch off the stove.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  9. Delicious channa kurma is ready to be served.
Notes
always cook the Kondakkadalai with a little salt and pressure cook at least 6-7 whistles for the best result.
