Vendhaya dosa recipe, how to prepare soft Vendhaya Dosai, methi dosa recipe with detailed photos and Video. Soft and fluffy Vendhaya Dosai(வெந்தய தோசை) made with just 3 ingredients without any yeast or any artificial ingredients used. Proper Ratio and Good quality of Ingredients are the 2 factors required to make soft dosa or Idli. This Aunthetic Vendhaya dosa is the trademark of all TamilNadu Homes(South Indian). Vendhayam is Fenugreek in English and Vendhayam in tamil, methi in hindi. The proper ratio of Rice, urad dal and fenugreek (3:1) were added to make Vendhaya Dosa(Vendhaya Dosai). Taking a tsp of  Vendhayam every day solves so many issues, why can’t we take Vendhayam in our everyday breakfast. Do check the most delicious of all Kuzhambu variety “Vendhaya Kuzhambu Recipe”.

Instant Vendhaya Dosai making is also same procedure but we can add soda to make Dosai immediately. But I prefer the way it gets fermented naturally. Step By Step Preparation of Vendhaya dosa recipe, how to prepare soft Vendhaya Dosai:

Vendhaya Dosa Batter Preparation:

Vendhaya Dosai Recipe, Vendhaya Dosa batter

  • Take 3 cups of Idli rice(parboiled Rice) in a bowl, add water and let it soak. Take 1 cup of Urad dal(Ulundu) and 1 tbsp of Vendhayam(fenugreek seeds/methi seeds) in another bowl. Wash and Soak both in Water for 3-4 Hours.

Vendhaya Dosai Recipe

  • After 3 hours. Grind the urad dal and Vendhayam first by adding little water. Once the Both ground well removes the batter and transfer in a big vessel.
  • Now add the rice in the grinder and grind to a smooth paste with little water. Remove it and add it together with the urad dal Vendhayam batter.
  • Add 3 tsp salt and mix well. Let it ferment for 8 hours or overnight. After 8 hours the Vendhayam Dosa Batter is ready to make Vendhaya Dosai.

  • Take a ladle full of Vendhya Dosa Batter and spread it like thick dosa. Drizzle some oil over the dosa and cover it with a lid and let it cook for 1 min. Once the corners turn golden flip the other side and cook well. Vendhaya dosa is ready to serve.

Serve Vendhaya Dosa with Garlic Chutney,  Sambar, Coconut Chutney.

Tips to make Perfect Vendhaya Dosai Recipe:

  • To get soft Vendhaya Dosa,Soaking the dal, vendhyam and rice for 3 hours is important. fermentation process takes around 8 hours. do not disturb during fermentation.
  • furthermore, if you live in cold climate then preheat the oven and place the batter in it. this helps to keep warm and ferment the batter well. (just pre-heat and switch off the oven)
  • additionally, add in salt to required batter only. the remaining batter you can store in a airtight container and refrigerate.
  • We can make idli with this Vendhaya dosai batter.
