Keerai Vadai Recipe with Murungai Keerai Iron rich and Protein Rich Keerai Vadai is made of Murungai Keerai and Channa Dal (Kadalai Paruppu). For easy understanding here I have posted the recipe of Keerai Vadai Recipe with step by step Pictures and Video. Do check the Keerai Vadai recipe with Urad Dal. Happy International Mother Tongue day! I wanted to post a Tamil Recipe today as Tamil is my mother tongue.

“Keerai” is the Tamil word called spinach in English. Vadai is the one of the most addictive snack invented by Tamilian in Tamil Nadu. Later people started calling as vada. Vadai can be prepared in various types like Urad dal vada is Ulundu Vadai aka Methu Vadai,  cabbage Vadai, Masala Vadai and so on. Today am happy to share the TamilNadu Famous Keerai Vadai recipe Aka Masala Keerai Vadai recipe with Murungai Keerai. Healthy Snacks, it a clever way to give feed the Murungai Keerai to kids. Do try this Murungai Keerai Vadai recipe and Enjoy the Day!!!

Step By Step Keerai Vadai Recipe with Murungai Keerai,

  • Wash and Soak Channa dal (Kadalai Paruppu) in water at least for 2 hours and then drain the water completely add it to the mixie jar. Take a Tbsp of Soaked chana dal from the jar and reserve it for later use.
  • Add the dry red chilly(i have added only 3 if you want you can adjust according to your taste buds) and Salt. (My mom will add a tsp of Saunf  while grinding for extra flavour but I skipped here if you want you can add it) Grind it to a coarse batter without adding the water.

  • Take the Ground dal in a bowl, add chopped onions, chopped garlic, chopped Murungai Keerai and then finally add the reserved dal, mix well.
  • Make small balls out of the batter and then pat it. Heat the oil and fry it.

Keerai Vadai Recipe with dal

  • Heat the oil and fry it. Flip the other side and fry it. Make sure that the both side fried evenly.
  • Once the Keerai Vadai turns golden and crisp then remove it from the stove. Now the Keerai Vadai is Ready to Serve.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Channa Dal(Kadalai Paruppu)
  • 3 dry red chilly
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic pods, chopped
  • ½ cup Murungai Keerai Chopped(drumstick leaves)
  • oil for frying
Instructions
