Aval Payasam Recipe-Easy Krishna Jayanthi Recipes

August 23, 2011 by Premalatha Aravindhan 65 Comments

We are celebrating Krishna Jayanthi today and I made Aval Payasam. I wanted to try aval payasam for long time but was not able to do it.Today I decided to try Aval payasam after I saw how easy from Priti Aval Payasam post which she did in microwave.I did it over gas top, which is easy and quick again to make.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Poha/Aval/Beaten Rice[ I used thin variety]
1/4 cup Condensed Milk
1 tsp Ghee/Butter
1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
10 g Raisins
1 cup Water
A Pinch saffron

For Stove top method

    •  In a pan/wok heat ghee, roast raisins and keep aside. Add poha/aval and saute for 2 minutes or until poha becomes crispy.
  • Add water and cook until poha becomes soft and gets cooked.
    • Now add Condensed milk ,cardamom powder and cook for a minute only.
  • Garnish with raisins and Saffron and Serve hot.

I offered Aval Payasam as neivedyum for Lord Krishna…

Happy Sri Krishna Jayanthi to all…

Thanks prathima, it won’t be too much later as we are adding water. So the consistency is little thick n creamy. That’s y I added condensed milk,if it is normal milk chances are more…
