Idly Podi

October 21, 2010 by Premalatha Aravindhan 35 Comments

I tried this recipe from Mrs.Menagasathia blog.Her version of idly podi is really excellent. Thanks menaga for sharing the recipe.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup roasted gram dhal
1 tbsp urad dhal
5 dry red chillies
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
few curry leaves
1/4 tsp hing powder
1/3 tsp oil
salt a needed

Method:

Heat the oil in a kadai and fry the red chillies for a few minutes. Then fry the remaining ingredients except salt in low flame, until they become light brown.Cool these ingredients and grind them to a coarse powder along with salt.Allow the powder to cool and store them in airtight container. This podi goes very well with idly and dosa .

You can serve the idly podi over the dosa & idly,

Podi Dosa,

Podi idly,
