Paneer Pulao

August 16, 2010 by Premalatha Aravindhan 37 Comments

Paneer Pulao:

I used to prepare pulao using basmati rice, but today i tried with seeraga samba rice.Since the rice of this variety resembles the shape of a spice “Seeragam/Cumin” it has got the name “Seeraga Samba”.The rice is extremely fine and aromatic. My mom used to prepare briyani in seeraga samba rice.So for a change i prepare this pulao using seeraga samba rice. If u dont get that rice, try using basmati rice.

Ingredients:

2 cups seeraga samba  rice
11/2 cup water
100 g paneer
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 cloves
1 cardamom
1/2 tbsp ghee
1 tsp oil
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp coconut cream
1 tbsp curd

To grind:

2 green chillies
few fresh coriender
1 medium size onion

Method:

Grind the grinding ingredients into a fine paste without adding water and keep aside.
Heat the ghee in a kadai and add the cinnamon stick, cardamom, cloves.Fry them in the ghee, then add the ginger garlic paste, salt and grinded paste and fry them until the raw smell goes.
Add the curd ,rice into it and mix them well and finaly add a tsp of coconut cream.
Transfer it into the rice cooker and add water and cook it well.
Meanwhile fry the paneer in oil and add it finally into the pulao and mix it well without breaking the rice.
                                                    Serve hot with any curry/fry.
Iam sending this to “letz Relishh…Paneer Event”    announced by jay.

I love the pic, specially the last one with close-up and all the step by step ones as well. Beautiful. I usually cook this with left over rice but never cooked fresh and I also like the addition of coconut cream in it. Will surely try it out sometime 🙂
