Mathulam Pazham Chutney(Pomegranate Chutney)

March 16, 2010 by Premalatha Aravindhan 6 Comments

Ingredients:

Mathulam Pazham(Pomegranate) 1
Small onion 10
Tomatoes 2
Red chilli 3-4
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Green chilli 1
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Oil 5 tsp
Salt to taste

Method of Preparation:

Cut the Pomegranate and take out the pulp alone in a plate and keep aside.
Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan.
Fry the red chilli, tomatoes, onion into it.
Grind this mixture in mixie by adding salt into it.
Dont add water because the tomatoes itself have enough water to grind.
Finely add the pomegranate pulp into the mixie and grind it also(dont grind so soft because the crunchy taste
is very nice to have).
Meanwhile prepare the seasonings also in the same pan add 3 tsp oil and heat it.
Once the oil get heated add the mustard seeds wait until splutter
Add the curry leaves and green chilli, fry it for a while
Add the grinded mixture in the pan,let it cook for 2 min.
Finally replace it in a bowl.
This chutney is bit spicy but still we added pomagranate into it so the taste is like sweet and bit crunchy(because of the pomegranate seeds).
Serve it with dosa/idly ,Try this crunchy and sweet chutney
