Kunuku is the Quick Evening Snack recipe made from Adai Maavu. Very famous fritter that often makes in Iyengar Houses. Kunukku Maavu preparation is same like Adai Maavu Preparation but with little more thick consistency.

  • ½ cup Raw rice
  • 2 tbsp Boiled Rice
  • 1 tbsp Urad Dal
  • 1 tbsp Toor Dal
  • 1 tbsp Moong Dal
  • 1 onion,chopped
  • A sprig curry leaves
  • Salt as needed
  1. Add the raw rice, boiled rice, toor dal, chana dal, urad dal and dry red chilli in a mixing bowl. Add enough water and soak it for minimum 20 minutes. you can soak Separately or together also.
  2. Grind the soaked dal and rice with little water to a smooth batter like Adai Maavu. Transfer the Kunukku batter to a mixing bowl and add the onion,salt and curry leaf mix well. Kunukku batter is ready.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and drop a tablespoon of kunuku batter in the hot oil. Fry it in a medium flame, wait until it turns golden brown, turn and fry in between. Once the colour changes to golden brown remove it from the flame. Crispy and healthy Iyengar Kunukku is ready to serve.
