  • ½ cup samai
  • ⅓ cup moong dal
  • 5 raisins
  • 5 cashews
  • 2 and ½ tbsp ghee
  • 1 and ¾ cup water(cooking the dal n rice)
  • ½ cup grated jaggery
  1. Heat a tsp of ghee in a pan and fry the cashews and raisins.Once it turns golden take it out and then fry the moong dal in the same pan,till slightly golden.
  2. Then pressure cook samai rice and fried dal with enough water till it become soft.
  3. Add the cooked dal and rice mix in a pan or kadai, add in the crushed jaggery(you can add the jaggery syrup) cardamom powder and nut meg,mix well.
  4. Once the pongal start thick consistancy add in the fried cashews and raisins.
  5. Finally add in the remaining ghee and serve hot:)
