Wheat Rava Pongal recipe made with Broken wheat Rava, Yellow split Moong dal, and paired with Coriander Coconut Chutney.  Low Carb Wheat Rava Pongal Recipe is a good South Indian Breakfast recipe that is very famous in TamilNadu.  Wheat Rava is a Healthy replacement for Rice. Less is Calorie. Having the same old Rava Pongal for a change we can try Wheat Rava Pongal. It tastes delicious with Tiffin sambar too. The Step by step Picture of making Wheat Rava Pongal Recipe(Gothumai Rava Pongal) is very easy to understand. Broken Wheat (Dalia, bulgar wheat) Broken wheat or cracked wheat or couscous is made by milling whole raw wheat grains coarsely. Wheat is cleaned and husked and then processed to the required size.

Including broken wheat in breakfast daily for two months has a significant impact on losing weight. It makes you feel full immediately and helps in avoiding overeating. Loaded with essential nutrients it will make you feel energetic throughout the day.

How to make Wheat Rava Pongal with Broken wheat rava and moong dal

Ingredients
  • ½ cup wheat Rava
  • ¼ cup moong dal
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 2 cup of water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • For tempering
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • curry leaves
  • 10 cashews
Instructions
  1. In a pressure cooker, heat a tsp ghee add ¼ cup moong dal, & ½ cup wheat Rava roast it on low flame, till you get a nice aroma from the dal.
  2. Add 2 cups of water and ½ tsp salt, Pressure cook it 3 to 4 whistles, once cooked, mash & keep aside.
  3. Heat a pan with 1 tbsp ghee, add 10 cashews, ½ tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp pepper, curry leaves fry & add it with Rava Pongal mix well.
  4. Wheat Rava Pongal is ready to serve.
Notes
Make sure that you are adding enough water as mentioned otherwise the wheat will not cook properly.
If you are using coarse wheat Rava, just pulse it in mixie and then use it so that it will cook fast.
Roast in Ghee will give a nice aroma, so don't skip that step.

Wheat Rava Image, Broken Wheat Rava

Broken Wheat Rava is a little coarse in its shape and a little big in size so just give a pulse in mixie and use. so that we can reduce the cooking time.

Gothumai Rava

Godhumai Rava is fine now. Just give a pulse it Doesn’t powder it.

Wheat Rava Pongal recipe with Moong dal

In a pressure cooker, heat a tsp ghee add 1/4 cup moong dal, & 1/2 cup wheat Rava roast it on low flame, till you get a nice aroma from the dal.

Add 2 cups of water and 1/2 tsp salt

Broken Wheat Rava Pongal in Pressure Cooker

Pressure cook it 3 to 4 whistles

Tempering for Rava Pongal

Heat a pan with 1 tbsp ghee, add 10 cashews, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp pepper, curry leaves fry
