Vendhaya Mangai Recipe, How make Vendhaya Podi at home

Vendhaya Mangai Recipe, Vendhayam Manga, Raw Mangoes are chopped and Seasoned with Homemade Fenugreek powder(Vendhaya Podi). How to make Vendhaya Mangai Oorugai with Vendhaya Podi. In this post, I have shared some tips and health benefits of Vendhayam and How we can make use of Vendhayam. Mangai(Mango) season started we all already started buying the Mangai. Many of us like the Instant Mango Pickle and Mango Thokku(Mangai Thokku) But do try this Vendhaya Mangai which takes like bitter and sour too. Actually that bitterness is very healthy too. Healthy Vendhayam recipes like Soft Vendhaya Dosa, Vendhaya Kuzhambu, Vendhya chapati.

We all know the Health benefits of Vendhayam Let me share in what form we can take and their respective health benefits,

Sprouted Fenugreek seeds,
1. reduces blood sugar level, a diabetic person should eat in the empty stomach
2. weight loss(controls the appetite)
3. good for lactation
4. control Hair loss

Fenugreek soaked overnight
1. Mensural Cramps
2. Heart disease
3. fight against cold & flu

Fenugreek Powder
1. acid reflux
2. digestion
3. cures constipation

How to include it in our day to day life,
Mix fenugreek powder in chapati dough, mix with buttermilk,  add in sambar or any curry you make.

Vendhaya Mangai recipe

Serves: 4 cups pickle
Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ½ tsp vendhayam powder(fenugreek)
  • 1 & ½ tsp salt
  • 4 cups Chopped Raw Mango
Instructions
  1. Let's make the Vendhayam powder first, take ½ tsp vendhayam dry roast it in a pan. Once it started turning the color remove it from the pan,
  2. Powder it in mixie set aside.
  3. Now wash the mangoes and chop it into small pieces.
  4. Add the chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, vendhyam powder mix well.
  5. Heat oil and temper with mustard seed and add the tempering mix well.
  6. I didn't add the tempering I just used as it is.
  7. Store it in the fridge whenever you need to take a small quantity and keep back in the fridge.
  8. It goes well with curd rice and sambar sadam.
Notes
use a spoon to mix the pickle, since we have added chili powder hands will start burning.

Vendhaya Mangai recipe

Let’s make the Vendhayam powder first, take 1/2 tsp vendhayam dry roast it in a pan. Once it started turning the color remove it from the pan,
Powder it in mixie set aside.

Mangai oorugai
Now wash the mangoes and chop it into small pieces.
Add the chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, vendhyam powder mix well.
Heat oil and temper with mustard seed and add the tempering mix well.
I didn’t add the tempering I just used as it is.
Store it in the fridge whenever you need to take a small quantity and keep back in the fridge.
It goes well with curd rice and sambar sadam.
