This Fermented ragi idli & Dosai recipe is made with fresh Homemade Idli Batter, This link will help you to make soft and spongy Idlis and How to grind Idli Batter in Mixie another post will help to grind idli and dosa batter. Do check both the post will help you and if you are a beginner make it small quantity and try this recipe.  Usually to make Soft idli we use a 4:1 ratio of Rice: Urad dal and a tbsp of methi seeds(Vendhayam). Today I skipped the rice used the ragi and made it in the same proportion.

How to grind ragi idli/dosa Maavu in Mixie. You can make Super Soft Ragi Idli Dosa Batter in Mixie.

Serves: 4 idli & 4 dosa
Ingredients
  • 1 cup ragi
  • ⅓ urad dal
  • 1 tsp methi seeds
Instructions
  1. Soak for Ragi, urad dal & 3 hrs, and then grind it to a smooth paste in mixie with ⅓ cup of water(adjust if it is very thick). Transfer the batter to a container and then add salt, mix well. The batter should be fermented for 8 hours. Ragi idli batter is ready.
  2. Grease the idli plate and drop a ladle full idli batter in each mold.
  3. Steam the idlis and serve hot with coconut chutney or Tomato chutney
  4. Heat a Tawa spread the ragi dosa maavu on Tawa and drizzle with some oil
  5. Once the edges started to turn crisp turn the other side
  6. Crispy and tasty ragi idli & dosa REady.
Notes
we can make both idli and dosa with the same batter. While making ragi dosa just dilute it with a little water and then make it.

RAGI DOSA AND RAGI IDLI STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

Ragi IDLI BATTER Preparation

  1. Let’s First Prepare Ragi Paniyara Maavu, Soak Ragi, urad dal, methi seeds & 3 hrs, and then grind it to a smooth paste in mixie with ⅓ cup of water(adjust if it is very thick).

Ragi IDLI DOSA

  1. Transfer the batter to a container and then add salt, mix well with your clean hand. close it with a lid. The batter should be fermented for 8 hours completely.
  2. After 8 hours mix the batter well. Ragi Paniyaram Maavu is ready now.

RAGI IDLI BATTER RECIPE

  1. Grease the idli plate and drop a ladle full idli batter in each mold.
  2. Steam the idlis and serve hot with coconut chutney or Tomato chutney
