We use to make this at home almost every week, i make vazhipoo(banana flower) poriyal but kids refuse to eat them because of bitterness in banana flower. Here i have used only moong dal to make kootu. You can grond a tbsp of coconut with cumin seeds and green chili and add the ground paste with the kootu. Since i skiped adding coconut. You can try them too. similar pudalangai paal kootu.

How to make Vazhaipoo murungai keerai kootu,
Heat a tsp of oil in a kadai or pressure cooker, add mustard seeds. Let it splutter.
Add onion and saute well. Add the chopped vazhaipoo and murungai keerai and saute well.
Add dal, salt and turmeric powder, mix well.
Finely, add the water. cover and cook for 5-20 mins. If you are using pressure cooker just wait for 2 whistles and then switch off.
Vaizhaipoo murungai keerai kootu ready.

- 1 cup drumstick leaves(murungai keerai)
