Easy Pazham Pori Recipe(kerala Style), Ethakka Appam, Banana Fritters

Easy Pazham Pori Recipe(Kerala Style), Ethakka Appam, Banana Fritters recipe with step by step photos and video. Homemade Pazham Pori recipe is Deep fried Nenthran Pazham(plantain). A thick coating of sweetened wheat flour or plain flour on Ethakkai(Nethran Pazham) and deep fried in Coconut Oil is called Pazham(banana fruit) Pori(fried), in Kerala style. Banana Chips recipe(Kerala Ethakai Upperi)  is the one famous in Kerala Cuisine can find in all Onam Sadya menu. This Pazham Pori is famous here and we can find in all the tea shops selling as the evening snacks.

Crispy Pazham Pori Recipe Tips,

  1. To make Crispy Pazham Pori we can add an egg while making the batter. But in my recipe, I didn’t add any egg but still, the Banana Fritters are Crispy because of I deep fried it in low flame for more minutes so that we can get extra cooked Pazham Pori and Crispy outside.
  2. We can a tbsp of rice flour to make the Pazham Pori Crispy.

In my Recipe, I have featured Pazham Pori with Wheat Flour to make it as a healthy snack but we can make Pazham Pori with Maida(plain Flour) also. Its good to use Nendran Pazham(Plantain) to make Pazham Pori other variety of Banana can also be used if you didn’t get the Nendran Pazham.

Pazham Pori Recipe(Kerala Style), Ethakka Appam, Banana Fritters Step by step Recipe:

Pazham Pori recipe with banana fritters

  1. Prepare the Pazham First: Take the Nendran Pazham(plantain), peel the skin and then cut it in half and then further slice each half midway vertically. If you want you can cut further or use as it is. Make sure that the Pazham should not be more ripen. It just ripens.

2. Let’s Prepare the outer batter for Pazham Pori, Take a mixing bowl, add a cup of Wheat flour or Plain flour(maida), a tbsp rice flour, a tbsp sugar, a pinch salt(optional), yellow food color or turmeric powder and 1/2 cup water. Mix the batter well without any lumps. The batter should be thick like idli batter not thin.

3. Frying the Banana Fritters: Drop the Prepare banana inside the batter and coat the banana with the batter. Heat the oil and slowly drop the coated banana inside the hot oil and deep fry them by turning them frequently. once it started crispy at the corners and turns golden, drains the oil and remove it from the oil. Banana Fritters(pazham Pori) the delicacy of Kerala is ready to serve.

Pazham Pori Recipe, Pazham pori is Banana Fritters made of wheat flour and Pazham.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup maida/all purpose flour/wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • a pinch salt
  • a pinch yellow food color/turmeric powder
  • ½ cup water(approximately)
  • 2 Banana/Ethikka/plantain
  • Oil for deep frying(coconut oil)

Notes
1. make sure that the banana should not be more ripen it will suck oil if it is very ripen.
2. try to fry in coconut oil.
3. adjust adding sugar according to the sweatness of your banana. If it is more sweet add 1 tbsp sugar or less.
