Vazhaithandu Mor Recipe

Vazhaithandu Mor Recipe with step by step pics and Video. Vazhaithandu Mor is nothing but Banana Stem Juice in Spiced Buttermilk. Vazhaithandu is Banana stem in English. Banana Juice is Extracted and then mixed with Buttermilk, later added the tempering is called the Vazhaithandu Mor Aka Banana Stem Buttermilk. Ginger Added in this Vazhaithandu Mor Recipe which can be taken for Weight loss.  Since the Summer is dwelling and  Agninachathiram also started we need to cool down our body by having something in the liquid form. Making Fruit juices is a bit time consuming and also we need to purchase the fruits. Mor that is buttermilk is always available in all our Indian Homes, then why should we are waiting. We have our own traditional Summer drinks that can make in our homes using the ingredients available in our Indian kitchen. Like Panagam is very healthy drink and neer mor. nothing can beat these drinks. Vazhaithandujuice alone is very helpful for stone disease and without medicine, it can be cured. We Tamilians use the banana tree from top to bottom in our cooking. Vazhaikai Podimas, Vazhaipoo poriyal, etc. Ok let’s Proceed with the Recipe.

Before going to the recipe, Let us see

how to Clean Vazhaithandu(Banana Stem),

Vazhithandu Edible part

There are 2 parts are there in the banana stem, The inner part is edible and the outer part to be discarded.

Vazhaithandu Discard part

Using the knife slit the outer part and discard it. Slice the inner part into circles.

You can see the fibre coming out from the stem, just remove it using the fingers. Chop them and put it in buttermilk if you are using it later.

Vaizhaithandu mor with ginger

Chop the Vazhaithandu and add it into the mixie jar. roughly chop the ginger and add it with the  Vazhaithandu.

Vazhaithandu mor with vazhaithandu juice

Add 1/4 cup water and grind it. Extract the juice of the vazhaithandu and tightly squeeze. extract the juice and discard the fibre.

Vazhiathandu mor recipe

Take the buttermilk and add the extracted banana stem juice, mix well. Add salt.

Vazhaithandu mor with butter milk

Temper with mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves and add it with vazhaithandu mor.

Tips For How to Clean Banana Stem and Extracting the Vazhaithandu Juice. Vazhaithandu mor (neer Mor) in Spiced buttermilk Recipe.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups chopped Vazhaithandu
  • 1-inch ginger
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • ⅓ tsp salt
  • To Temper;
  • A pinch hing
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ⅓ tsp split urad dal
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
Instructions
  1. Chop the banana stem and add it to the mixie jar.
  2. Add the chopped ginger and grind it with little water
  3. Extract the juice of the banana stem and mix it with the buttermilk
  4. Add salt and mix well.
  5. Now temper it with mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves and add it with the vazhaithandu mor.
  6. Serve the cold Vaizhaithandu mor for Summer
