Paal Kozhukattai recipe with step by step pictures and video,Paal kozhukkai with coconut milk is very well know dish in chettinad cusine but they use vellam( jaggery), will post that version soon. But this style of thengai paal kozhukattai is my mom style and we all love it.Ganesh Chaturthi 2015 falls on Thursday, September 17. The one festive i love most is vinayagar chathurthi. You know why because amma makes varieties of kozhukattai on this day. I will have kozhukattai from morning to evening, yup am a gr8 fan of kozhukattai 🙂  I still remember 2013 vinayagar chaturthi we all went to perumal temple and i saw my Mothagam picture was kept  there. I feel happy at that moment. Do check the recipe for mothagam or puran kozhukattai recipe.

Lets see how to make paal kozhukattai with coconut milk recipe:

how to make kozhukattai bring to boil the water,sesame oil and salt in pan just for 1 minute and then switch off the stove.Now add the rice flour little by little. Using the spatula or a wire whisk mix continuously without lumps.Once the dough become soft and non sticky,stop mixing it. Now the Kozhukattai dough is ready.

paal kozhukattai recipeKeep covered and take your convenient portions little by little and make tiny balls of desired size.Steam the balls in ildy cooker and set aside.

ganesh chaturthi 2015,paal kozhukattai is the delicious sweet made for the god ganesh during the vinayagar chaturthi day. it is made up of coconut milk.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup rice flour(ready made idiyappam flour)
  • 1 cup water(approximaetly)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • salt as needed(check the ingredients of the idiyappam flour if salt is added skip adding
  • ⅓ cup thick coconut milk or 50g coconut powder
  • ½ cup Milk + 1 cup water
  • 2 pinches cardamom powder
Instructions
  1. bring to boil the water,sesame oil and salt in pan just for 1 minute and then switch off the stove.
  2. Now add the rice flour little by little. Using the spatula or a wire wishk mix continuously without

  5. Keep covered and take your convenient portions little by little and make tiny balls of desired size.
  6. Steam the balls in ildy cooker and set aside.
  7. Now add the ½ cup milk and 1 cup water boil well and then add in the coconut milk or coconut powder.
  8. Add cardamom powder,sugar and mix well.
  9. Drop the balls slowly into the milk and let it boil for few minutes.now the paal kozhukattai is ready to serve.

Chettinad Paal Kolukattai with jaggery Recipe :

The entire procedure is same like sugar paal kozhukattai only difference is that the instead of sugar we are going add thick jaggery syrup and also we are not going to coconut milk instead we are going to add grated coconut.

    Now add the rice flour little by little. Using the spatula or a wire wishk mix continuously without
    lumps. Once the dough become soft and non sticky,stop mixing it. Now the Kozhukattai dough is ready.
  • Keep covered and take your convenient portions little by little and make tiny balls of desired size.
    Steam the balls in ildy cooker and set aside.
  • Now add the 1/2 cup milk and 1 cup water boil well and then add in the grated coconut.
    Add cardamom powder, jaggery syrup and mix well.
  • Drop the balls slowly into the milk and let it boil for few minutes.now the chettinad paal kozhukattai is ready to serve.

Paal Kozhukattai without milk:

I will not suggest this version because the traditional paal kozhukattai which make for vinayagar chaturthi includes coconut. We can also make without adding coconut also but taste won’t be the same.
