Simple Briyani Recipe using Tindora(kovakkai) | Tindora Briyani Recipe

———————————————————————————————————————————– Author : Premalatha Aravindhan   Category: Lunch Box Menu

Cuisine: South Indian    Prep and Cooking Time: 35-40 Mins       Serves: 2-3
———————————————————————————————————————————–

Ingredients:Tindora Briyani

100 g Tindora(kovakkai)
1 cup Basmati Rice

1 Big Onion, Sliced
2 Tomatoes,Chopped
3 Green chilles, Slitted
2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tbsp Curd

1 tsp Chilly powder
1 tbsp Oil + 1/2 tsp Ghee
3 cloves
1 inch Cinnamon Stick
2 Cardamom
2 Bay leaves
1 tsp Fennel Seeds
Salt as Needed

Method:
Cook the Basmati rice in Pressure cooker or in electric cooker and keep aside. You can check here for how to cook Basmati Rice.

Tindora Briyani

  • Wash and clean the tindora and cut it into length wise.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and then add the cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves, fennel seeds and fry it.
  • Add the sliced onion, chopped tomatoes, green chillies and curry leaves, saute well.

2-briyani1

  •  Now add in the ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and chilli powder, saute well till the raw smell goes.
  • Add in the tindora and mix well with the masala.Add the curd and mix well.Cover it with lid and cook well.
  • Cook the rice and Let it cool down completely.

Tindora Briyani

  • Once the tindora completely cooked well, add in the steamed rice and mix well.
  • Mix it without breaking the rice.Add in the ghee and switch off the stove.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot.

My Notes:

  • Cook the rice grainy,if it is sticky the briyani won’t look nice.Do check here how to cook Basmati rice.
  • Don’t over cook the tindora ,the crunchy bites gives nice taste to the briyani.

fin

Serve the hot briyani with any raita or simply with papad.

Have a nice day!!!
