Saag Paneer recipe using gongura or sorrel(gongura) leaves recipe is the one, which is very famous in restaurants.Recently i tried this first time in sankrati restaurant here. The taste was awesome. Then i tried this it at home, the taste is exactly same like the restaurant one.Do give a try sure you love it.

Basic Information:paneer
Recipe Source:Vah chef,Yields:2-3,

Preparation time:below 30 mins

Ingredients: To grind:
1 small bunch gongura(Red Sorrel Leaves)
2 tbsp oil
1 big onions,chopped
3-4 garlic pods
1 inch ginger,chopped
3-4 green chillies,silted
1/2 tsp salt.

For curry:
100 g paneer
1 onion finely chopped
1 tsp cumin seeds(jeera)
1 tsp chilly powder
2 tsp coriander powder
A sprig curry leaves
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 cup water
salt as needed

Method:
1-saag

  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the paneer, take it out and keep aside.
  • In the same pan add the Garlic, ginger, chopped onion, green chilles and fry it,till the onion become soft.Add salt while frying.

2-saag1

  • Wash and clean the gongura leaves and then add it into pan,fry well.
  • Fry the leaves till it become soft and mushy.
  • Cool down for sometime and then grind it.

3-saag2

  • Lets make the curry.Heat oil in a pan,add in cumin seeds let it to splutter. Now add in the curry leaves and onion saute well.
  • Add chilly powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and little salt.Immediately add in water and boil the mix till the raw smell goes.
  • Now add in the gongura paste and mix well.

4-saag3

  • Saute it well, till it become shiny dark green curry. Now add in the fried paneer and mix well with the curry.
  • Now the gongura Paneer is ready to serve.

My Notes:

  • Instead whole ginger and garlic, you can add ginger garlic paste while frying.
  • After adding the gongura paste let it cook well till it becomes thick shiny and dark green.
