Masala Kuzhambu Recipe with Avarakkai(broad beans)

Masala Kuzhambu

Hi guys,hope all of you doing good.Sorry for not being visiting your space,since Aishu is in school holiday no time to blog.
On my today’s recipe,i would like to introduce masala kuzhambu.It is the veg version of Mk.This is my grand ma’s signature dish.She makes this often at home.This kuzhambu goes well with hot steamed rice and also perfect combo idly or dosa on the next day.Do give a try you too love it.


Serves : 2-3 | Cooking & Preparation Time : under 45 mins Masala Kuzhambu
Ingredients:
100 g Avarakkai or any vegetables of your choice
1 tomato,finely chopped
10 small onions chopped
2 green chillies
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp oil
A gooseberry size tamarind
1/3 tsp tumeric powder
1/2 tsp chilly powder
1 tsp coriander powder
salt to taste
To temper:
2 bay leaves
3-4 cloves
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 cardamom
To grind:
2 tbsp grated coconut
1 tsp fennel seeds
1 tsp poppy seeds

Preparation:

Masala Kuzhambu

  • Before start cooking, grind the coconut,poppy seeds and fennel seeds into a fine paste by adding little water keep aside.
  • Wash and clean the avarakkai and remove the fiber on it sides and cut into two.cut onion,tomato and chilly and make it ready for cooking.
  • Soak tamarind half an hour before in a cup water and extract the juice,keep aside.

Method:

 Masala Kuzhambu

  • Heat the oil and add in the cinnamon stick,cardamom,bay leaves and cloves fry it oil.
  • Add in the onion,tomato and green chillies fry well,till it turns soft.Add in the ginger garlic paste and fry it.
  • Now add in the avarakkai and fry well,till the vegetable turns soft.

Masala Kuzhambu

  • Add in the tamarind extract,chilly powder,turmeric powder and coriander and let it cook for sometime or till the raw small goes.
  • Now add in the grinded coconut paste and a cup water,let it boil for few seconds or till the kuzhambu foams at top.Remove it from flame and serve it hot rice.

My Notes:

  • You can use the vegetables like brinjal ,drum stick and raddish.
  • This curry is goes well with idly or dosa on the next day.
