Bhatura(bhature) Recipe with chole | Bhattura Recipe

June 25, 2013 by Premalatha Aravindhan 31 Comments

Bhatura

Batura/bature is Aishu’s fav. Most of the time i won’t order that in restaurants.Made it first time at home and it came out well. She said taste is like restaurant one.I have made chole masala for batura as side dish, will post soon. This is very simple and easy recipe. Here am sharing with you all.

Bhaturayields : 8 Bhaturas | Preparation Time:10 mins | Fermentation Time :  1-2 hours
cooking time : 15 mins | Recipe Source : Manjula’s Kitchen

Ingredients:

2 cups plain flour or maida + 1/4 cup flour for dusting
4 tbsp sooji (semolina flour)
2 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
3 tbsp yogurt
2 tsp oil
1/2 cup lukewarm water

How to prepare the dough for Bhatura:

1-masa

  • Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and let it sit for 10 minutes or until the mixture becomes frothy.Add sooji flour, sugar, and salt to the flour and mix well.
  • Then add the flour in a mixing bowl.Add in the oil, yogurt and crumble the flour. Add in the yeast water to the flour and knead well into a soft dough.

2-cha

  • Adjust with more or less water as needed to make soft pliable dough.
  • Cover the dough with a wet cloth and Keep the dough undisturbed for 1-2 hours or until the size is doubled.

How to make Bhatura:

1-cha1

  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 7 or 8 equal parts.
  • Dust the work surface with flour and roll it into 6” circles.

2-cha2

  • Heat oil in pan,the pan should little bigger than the bhatura.
  • Once oil gets heated slowly drop the bhatura into the oil,let it puff like a ball and then turn the other side.Drain the oil and take it out.

My Notes:

  • Use lukewarm water, don’t use hot water. It will kill the yeast action.

final
                                Serve Batura with chole masala.

Have a Nice Day!!!
