Yule log Chrismas cake

     Yule log Christmas Cake  is my dream for long and finally i made it

.This is my first attempt and it came out well.I have made the Swiss roll and the method of making log cake is almost the same.Do try this simple and quick recipe.

Baking Pan size :17 x 12 inch
Temperature : 180 degree C
Baking Time : 15 – 17 minutes


4 egg yolks (separated)
1/4 cup Sugar
50 g coco powder
1/2 cup whipping cream(for filling)
50 g icing sugar(for filling)

Yule Log Cake
  • Pre heat the oven.Separate the eggs and keep them in separate mixing bowls.
  • First Beat the york with sugar,till soft and light.

  • Add in the cocoa powder and beat well.

  • Whisk the egg whites and beat well till foamy and soft beat occurs.

  • Add in the foamy egg whites,don’t beat just Fold in evenly.

  • Grease the pan with butter or oil and then line the parchment paper.
  • Transfer the mix into the pan and spread it all over the pan.

  • Bake it for 15-17 minutes at 180 degree C, until the cake is puffed up and springs back when gently pressed.Cool down for few minutes.
  • Sprinkle the icing sugar over a parchment paper and then transfer the cake on it.Remove the grease paper .Don’t forgot to sprinkle the icing sugar before you transfer it.

  • Beat the whipping cream and icing sugar,till soft peaks occurs.
  • Once the cake completely cool down spread the icing all over the cake.

  • Spread a thin layer of icing,if it is thick then very difficult to fold the cake.
  • Fold the cake and don’t get panic even it break in between,keep rolling it.

  • See here i forgot to sprinkle the icing sugar below so some cakes stick on the paper,never mind you please keep in mind while rolling.
  • Cut the cake like a log and attach one piece at its side.

Here is the log cake is ready now ,keep it fridge for few minutes.Mean while we will make chocolate whipping cream.

For chocolate whipped cream:

we need:

200 g dark chocolate
1/4 cup whipping cream
3 tbsp butter

  • In a oven safe bowl add the chocolates and butter.Melt it.You melt it by double boiling method also.

  • Add the whipping cream in a bowl and beat till the soft peak occurs and then fold in with the  chocolate mix and mix well.

  • Take the chocolate log from fridge and start decorating it.Spread the chocolate on top of the cake.
  • using the frock made lines on top to get the log effect.we have done the cake now.

       Here is the yule log cake it ready,is it looks like a peace of log???

Keep the cake in fridge,take it out just before serving it.Here is a slice for you guys
