Quinoa Payasam | Quinoa Kheer | Payasam Recipes

July 23, 2012 by Premalatha Aravindhan 34 Comments

Quinoa Kheer / Payasam
Quinoa Payasam is a nitritious and guilt free payasam / kheer which i made this for Naga Panchami.I have already posted some payasams like Carrot Sago Payasam , Aval Payasam which is very rich and delicious payasam recipes But I thought of an healthier option without compromising on taste.
Payasam made with quinoa is almost the same taste like sago do try this and make healthy festivals.

Quinoa Kheer / Payasam
Ingredients:

1/2 cup Quinoa
2 cups Milk
1 cup sugar
A pinch Cardamom Powder
1 tsp ghee
10 cashew nuts
5 raisins

Quinoa Kheer / Payasam

Method:

Quinoa Kheer / Payasam
Wash quinoa as per the instruction given in the back of the cover.Soak quinoa for 1/2 an hour and then pressure cook it with enough water for one whistles or till it become soft. Meanwhile boil the milk well.

Quinoa Kheer / Payasam
Once milk gets boiled add the cooked quinoa and stir well.Add sugar and cardamom powder, mix well.Heat a frying pan and fry the cashew nuts and raisins to golden brown. Then mix it with pasayam.

Quinoa Kheer / Payasam

Enjoy this tasty and delicious payasam.

Notes:
Instead of Sugar ,you can also add Jaggery.
Instead of Normal Milk you can use condensed milk,if you are unmindful of caloriesWinking smile.
Quinoa is the good substitute of rice so you can add quinoa in rice payasam also.
If you don’t get quinoa you can also add oats.

Have a Nice DaySmile
