Mini Jangiri


   "Jangiri" is a popular south indian sweet prepared on festive days like diwali and its main ingredient is Urad dal.It is easy to make and less expensive.This is my fav sweet next to jalebi.I made this sweet very long back.Just came to know about the ebook from Indus Ladies,i think this is the right time to post this recipe.Check the details below about the ebook and send in your wonderful entries.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Urad dal
  • 1 tbsp Rice
  • 1 and 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Water(For Syrup)
  • 2 pinches of Kesar Colour
  • 2 tsp Rose Water

Method:


Mini Jangiri
  • Soak Dal and rice together in water for about 15 minutes not more than that,if you soak more hour the dal sucks more oil while frying and it cause the oil smell inside.So 15 minutes is enough.
  • Grind the dal into smooth thick frothy paste with little water,for me i used 1/4 cup water.

  • Once done take out from grinder and add the dal with kesar colour and mix well.
  • To check consistency of dal,put little paste in water it will float in water.This is the correct stage to proceed with the next step.

  • Meanwhile prepare the sugar syrup,in a pan heat the sugar and water.Stir constantly till half string consistency is reached.
  • Mix rose water,kesar colour to this syrup.

  • Heat oil in a flat pan.
  • Take a clean cloth,make small hole in centre.Drop a ladle of batter into the cloth.Close it properly and press it.

  • Drop small circles  in clock vice direction,design into small circles. Turn over gently when it is cooked.
  • Take it out from oil.

  • Drop it in sugar syrup.Allow it to soak till next batch of jangris are fried.
  • Remove from syrup and arrange it on a flat plate.Repeat the process with remaining dough.

        Akkaravadisal and Kalkandu Sadam are almost same,both are milk based sweets,only difference is that we add jaggery and dal in Akkaravadisal but in kalkandu sadam,we add only Kalkandu.Kalkandu sadam is less sweet and mild taste when compared to Akkaravadisal.Both are my family fav Sweets.I made this Kalkandu sadam at the first day of Puratassi(masapirappu) to offer Lord Perumal.This is very simple and easy recipe,which is suitable for all occasions.

There are so many kinds of BBQ sauces are available in the grocery store.   Some have strong flavours and frequently overpower the taste.So i wanted to try BBQ sauce on my own.This sauce is vinegar and mustard based which is suitable for baking,dipping and grilling.

Paneer Tikka Masala | Paneer Recipes-A simple Version







This is one of the simple and delicious paneer recipe which i learnt it from Manjula's Kitchen.I tried this recipe many times at home,which tastes exactly like restaurant one.So here is the recipe for you guys,


To Marinate Paneer We Need:

150 g Paneer

1 tbsp Oil

1/2 tsp Red chilly powder

1 tbsp Ginger,grated

1 tbsp Yogurt

1 tsp Coriander powder

1/2 tsp Salt

1 tsp Lime Juice

For gravy:

4 Medium Sized tomato

2 Green chilly

1 tbsp Oil

1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds

A Pinch Hing

2 Bay leaves

1 tsp Coriander powder

1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

1/2 tsp Corn starch

A pinch sugar

1/4 tsp Garam Masala

Few Chopped Cilantro

Salt As Needed




Method:


  • Cut the paneer into small cubes.
  • In a Mixing bowl,add all the Marinating ingredients.Except oil and Mix well.
  • Marinate it in room temperature for about 1 hour.
  • Heat oil in a pan and spread the marinated paneer into it.
  • Turn and fry both the sides in low flame.Once it become golden brown,take out and keep aside.
  • Grind the tomato and green chilly in blender till smooth paste.
  • Heat the oil in the same pan and add hing bay leaves and cumin seeds.
  • And then add the grinded tomato gravy,turmeric powder,coriander powder,sugar and salt.
  • Mix corn starch with little water and then add it finally into the gravy.
  • Once the gravy become thick add the garam masala at this stage.
  • Finally add the chopped cilantro and mix well.
  • If you want the gravy semi thick, adjust it with little water and if you want it dry then cook it for few more minutes and then transfer it into the serving bowl.


                     Serve it up with some naan or rice and enjoy!
