Raisins Cake

July 7, 2011 by Premalatha Aravindhan 55 Comments

This is one of the simple cake recipe which is good for beginners. This is also one of my favourite recipe as it’s simple but yet yummy.  You can also add blueberry instead of raisins and make it a blueberry cake.

I saw this jumbo size raisins in fair price, immediately got it and used the same in this cake, if you don’t find jumbo raisins you can use the regular one’s too.

Ingredients:

250g Butter
200g Castor Sugar
1 tsp Emulsifier
300ml Milk
320g Plain Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
100g Raisin

Method:

Add Butter,Sugar and Emulsifier in a large mixing bowl.

Beat the butter, sugar and emulsifier on slow speed till they become soft and light.

Add in the milk gradually. If you add it at a time ,it will cause the oil and water to separate.so add the milk little by little and beat them in slow speed.

After adding milk the batter will be like this consistency.

Shift the flour and Baking Powder and add it into the batter.Mix it well without lumps.

Add the Raisin and mix well.

Pre heat the oven and grease the sides of the tin with butter/oil and bottom with wax paper.I used 9 inch Round tin.You can use 8 inch round tin also.

Transfer the Mix into the tin and spread it evenly everywhere in the tin.Keep the tin in the oven and bake it at 180 degree Celsius, for about 35 minutes.

Insert a tooth pick in the middle if it is clean, the Raisins cake is ready. If not keep it for another 5-10minutes in the oven.

Here is the Raisins Cake ready, let it cool for sometime.

Soft and yummy cake for you.

As I said this cake is simple and yummy that I baked few times here is the cake that I baked in a square tin.

I am sending this to “Only-Baked” Event Announced by Tamalapakku and started by Food Delicious.

Enjoy Baking!!!

What is emulsifier & why do you need to add this? I bake cakes and have never used this. It would be really helpful if you could please explain

Emulsifier used predominantly in the baking cakes because it gives the cakes a super fine texture…
