Butter Cookies

November 30, 2010 by Premalatha Aravindhan 50 Comments

I prepared this Butter Cookies for my daughter. In her school they are celebrating the Chrismas Party this week. They are doing potluck for the party. So Prepared the Butter Cookies and Fruit cake for her.Just for fun i decorated the cookies with choco chip, mixed fruits and almond flakes. If  you don’t like it you can try the plain cookies. It’s a few minutes wounder and kids love it.

Ingredients:

2 cups All-Purpose Flour

1 cup Butter,at room temperature

1 cup Sugar Powder

1 tsp Baking Powder

1/2 tsp Baking Soda

1/4 tsp Salt

Few mixed fruits, choco chips, almond flakes for decoration.

Method:

Add the softened butter in a large mixing bowl, and beat them until soft and fluffy(about 2 to 3 Min’s at slow speed)

Mix the sugar powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt and all purpose flour in a bowl and shift them.Slowly add the Shifted flour into the cream, while mixing at the same time. You can use the hand for mixing them.

The cookie dough is now ready.

Make it into tiny balls(If the batter is too soft to form into balls, place in the refrigerator for about an hour or until firm.).Transfer them into the cookies tray.

Grease the bottom of the glass with flour.

Press the balls using the bottom of the glass.

You can decorate it by placing the Mixed fruits, choco chips, almond flakes in the middle or you want the plain butter cookies just press the fork on the top of the cookies and make a simple design.

Bake the cookies for about 10 to 12 minutes at 180 degree, until the cookies are lightly browned around the edges. Repeat the steps with the remaining flour.

Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool. Can be stored at room temperature, in an airtight container, for about a week. Freeze for longer storage.
