Gulab Jamun




Ingredients:

1 cup milk powder
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup milk
3 tsp butter
a pinch of baking soda
few grated pis ta for garnishing


For Syrup:

100g sugar
1/2 cup water
a pinch cardamom powder/1/3 tsp of rose essence
a pinch saffron(optional)



Method:

Sugar Syrup:


Boil the water and then mix the sugar and water until the sugar dissolves completely.Let it boil for few minutes,until thick.Add cardamom powder/rose essence and saffron into the sugar syrup.Let it cool for sometime,meanwhile prepare the jamun.


Jamun:



Mix all the dry ingredients with milk and butter.Add a tsp of water,if it is too thick and make the flour into a chapati like dough
Make the dough into small lemon sized balls.Heat the oil in medium flame and fry them until become golden brown.
Drain the oil and take it out and let it cool for few minutes and then drop them into the sugar syrup.
Let the jamun to soak in the syrup for 5 to 6 hours to get soft jamuns.
Serve chill/with vanilla ice cream.
