Manathakkali keerai thanni saru

June 16, 2010 by Premalatha Aravindhan 33 Comments

Manathakkali Keerai – has lot of vitamins in it. It is good for mouth & stomach ulcers.

Ingredients:

Medium sized bunch of manatha thakkali keerai
10 small onions chopped
1 tomato chopped
2 green chillies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp oil
2 tbsp grated coconut
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds

Method:

Wash the keerai and drain the water.Grind the grated coconut with fenugreek seeds in mixie into a fine paste by adding enough water.Heat the oil in a kadai, add the cumin seeds.Once it cracks, add the small onion ,tomato and green chilli, fry them for a while.Add the keerai ,salt, coconut paste,a cup of water at this stage and cook it for 5 mins.Once the keerai cooked very soft, transfer it into a serving bowl. The saru is almost watery like rasam, but very tasty. We can have it with hot rice.
