Simple Sambar Sadam Recipe, How to make Sambar Rice

Sambar Sadam Recipe / Sambar Rice recipe with step by step Pictures and Video. Quick and easy Lunchbox Menu for kids as well as Working people. We can Sambar Rice with Leftover rice also. This Recipe is very simple, if you could watch the video you can make quickly.  Sambar and Potato fry is the most fav combo for 99% of the people. I found this Sambar Sadam Recipe very simple and also loved its simplicity:) Try this recipe i sure you love it.

Step By Step Sambar rice Recipe,

cook the Dal and Rice separately, keep aside. cut the vegetables.
Sambar Sadam Recipe
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal and hing.

Add curry leaves and saute well.

Add the Small onion fry well.

Add the Tomato and saute well.

Add the Vegetables and saute well.

Transfer everything into a pressure cookerFullscreen capture 6142016 82844 AM
Add turmeric powder,sambar powder and salt mix well.

Add in the cooked dal with half cup water.

Cooked rice and mix well.

Add in the Tamarind Extract mix well.Fullscreen capture 6142016 82911 AM

close the lid and pressure cook it for 3 whistles, switch off the stove. After few minutes open the lids and serve the hot sambar sadam. Before serving add little ghee.

Learn to make Simple and Easy Sambar Sadam for Quick Kids Lunchbox. Healthy Sambar rice with lots of healthy vegetables and dal. A quick one pot meal.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 cup cooked dal
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp sambar powder
  • ⅓ cup thick tamarind juice
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ⅓ tsp urad dal
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • a pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 cup small onions
  • ½ cup chopped tomatoes
  • Few curry leaves
  • salt to taste,
Instructions
  1. Wash the rice and dhal, drain the water.cooked it separately.
  2. Heat the ghee in a pan and add the mustard seeds once it pops,add onion,tomatoes and curry leaves into it(If u want to add veggie also u can add).
  3. Add turmeric powder, sambar powder and salt.
  4. Now add the cooked dal, cooked rice and water , pressure cooks it.
  5. Add this seasoning to the cooked sambar rice and mix it by adding ghee(optional).
  6. Garnish it with chopped Corriander Leaves.Serve hot with potato fry and papad.
