Asoka Halwa Recipe

Asoka Halwa Recipe

This is my family fav halwa,we prepare this halwa almost for all occasions. This halwa can be prepared using the moong dhal(pasiparupu). Here is the recipe for Asoka Halwa.

Ingredients:

  • Moong dal - 1 cup
  • Wheat flour – 2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Food colour (Red)-A pinch
  • Cardomom powder-1 tsp
  • Cashewnuts - 15
  • Ghee - 1 cup

Method:

Add 1/2 cup water to 1 cup moong dal and cook in pressure cooker until it becomes soft and keep aside.

In a heavy bottom kadai fry the wheat flour with 1/2 tsp of ghee and set it cool for few mins.

Mash the cooked moong dal and add it into the kadai.

When it is well cooked, add sugar and stir well.
Slowly add the wheat flour at this stage .

Add 1/2 cup of ghee and food colour and keep stirring.
When it is almost over add cardomoms.

Add the remaining ghee and stir.

It should become a non sticky paste but not too hard.

At this stage remove the Kadai from the stove.
Spread the cashew on the top while serving the halwa.
