Pulikachal Recipe, Iyengar Puliyodharai recipe with video

Pulikachal Recipe, Puliyodharai is the Traditional South Indian Tamarind Paste. Iyengar Style Pulikachal is very famous and the Kovil Puloyodharai is almost same.Here i have updated “the detailed video of how to make Pulikachal Recipe.” Puliyodharai is the main dish for many occasions like Varalakshmi Vratam, Aadi Pandigai and many. Temple Puliyodhari is very tasty and everyone’s fav dish. I tried this recipe many times.

Temple Puliyodhari is very tasty and everyone’s fav dish. This recipe I have learnt from my mom in law and makes batches pack abroad.  Another Fav recipe is Vatha Kuzhambu, is the must try a recipe. Do try this recipe, definitely, you love it.

Ingredients: 
To make Pulikachal we need,
Dry Red Chilly – 3-4 
Gingely oil-2 tbsp
1 tsp Urad dal
1 tsp Channa Dal
A sprig curry leaves
Tamarind Extract 1 cup
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
sambar powder 1 tbsp
Hing 
Few Curry leaves 
Peanuts nuts – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1tsp
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

To Grind:
black Pepper – 1/2 tsp
Toor dal – 1 tsp
cumin seeds 1 tsp

 

Step by Step Preparation of Pulikachal:

1. Soak urad dal and channa dal in water. Soak Tamarind in hot water.
2.dry roast the grinding ingredients and grind them in a mixie.
3.Heat the oil in a Pan and temper the mustard seeds and urad dal, wait till spluttering.
4. add the curry leaves,red chillies,turmeric Powder and hing,fry them.Add the Fried Peanuts and soaked dal fry well.
5.Add the turmeric Extract and then the ground Powder,sambar powder and let it cook,till thick consistence and also the oil squeeze at the top.Pulikachal is ready now.
Remove the Pulikachal from the stove.

This is the Pulikachal Paste,let us Prepare Puliyogare/Puliyodarai.

Cook the rice in a pressure cooker.
Add the cooked rice in a mixing bowl.Add a tbsp of Pulikachal paste and Mix them well so that the Paste is evenly mixed with the rice.Enjoy the delicious Rice
